Russian Federation demands to 'put Ukraine in its place' over Kharlan's refusal to shake hands with Russian woman

Svishchev criticized Ukraine

Dmitry Svishchev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports, has expressed outrage at Ukraine's complaint against the International Fencing Federation (FIS) for its inaction in the scandal surrounding Olga Kharlan at the World Championships-2023. The State Duma deputy called our country a "guilty child" after the Ukrainians appealed to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Svischev said this in comments to the propaganda news agency TASS. He made a demand for FIS to "show the place" of our national federation, and also accused Ukraine of allegedly violating ethics, forgetting that his country was waging a criminal war.

"The International Federation should show the place of the Ukrainian Fencing Federation. Such complaints, ignoring a higher organization, are a breach of ethics. They are trying, like a guilty child, to jump over their heads and complain. This is not the way a self-sufficient federation acts; apparently, there is either pressure or powerlessness," Svishchev said.

Recall, at the 2023 World Cup in Milan, Kharlan refused to shake hands with Russian Anna Smirnova. In response, the representative of the aggressor country made a circus, refusing to leave the track. Later, the Ukrainian received a disqualification, which the FIS issued under pressure from the Russian Federation.

Note that at the same time the representative of the Russian Federation does not meet the criteria of a neutral athlete, openly supporting the Russian Armed Forces.

As reported OBOZREVATEL, in an interview with our publication Olga Harlan admitted how she reacted to the disqualification at the World Championships after refusing to shake hands with the Russian.
