Russia has taken Finnish biathlete hostage
The Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) has blocked the transfer to the Finnish national team of 34-year-old Moscow-born Daria Virolainen, despite the fact that the athlete has a Finnish passport. Because of this, the daughter of Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova is not training with the national team of the aggressor country, but is getting in shape at her own expense.
Reztsova herself told about this in a commentary to the propaganda channel "Match TV". She noted that she did not understand the actions of the RBU management, which considered the option of letting the athlete go to the Finnish team, but eventually froze the transfer.
"Frankly speaking, I don't know myself why Dasha trains at her own expense. Probably no one holds training camps. I have not communicated with her on this topic. In general, everything is fine, it's just a shame that Dasha wanted to play for Finland last season, and they won't let her in, despite her Finnish citizenship. I guess it's because she's from Russia. She was considered for a long time, but in the end everything hung up. Nevertheless, she is training hard in the hope of competing again," Reztsova said.
Earlier, Olympic champion Alexander Legkov became a laughing stock online after bowing to Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the owner of the Big Crystal Globe and winner of the overall World Cup standings last season, French biathlete Julie Simon got into a huge scandal after she was sued by her national team partner.
