Russia has disgraced itself with an "alternative Olympics" that turned out to be a "miserable spectacle" and "bluster"
Former Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matitsyn said the BRICS Games were a success. The competitions, which local propagandists pompously call the "alternative Olympics," took place in Kazan from June 12 to 23.
According to the former official, the result even exceeded expectations, because this project was "prepared for a very short period of time on Putin's instructions." Initially, the task was to ensure participation for athletes from the BRICS countries, but then an open format was adopted.
"We were determined to invite the maximum number of countries, although we realized that it was an Olympic year. Our team got the opportunity to compete with competitors from other countries. As a result, we see that almost 90 countries have come. The atmosphere of a multi-sport event was created, which creates special feelings and energy. We are proud of the project and are already thinking about how to position it in the future, creating an additional platform for the multipolar world," Matytsin said on Match TV.
This passage of the former minister caused a real hysteria among Russian fans. Fans accuse Matytsin of lying and consider the games themselves a disgrace.
"As a resident of the country, I did not see a single broadcast and did not even want to watch. And here he talks about the whole world," "Who got the name right: The PShICS Games. Everyone saw it", "Bluster. Cutting. Isolation", "Oh yes, this show has made history with half of the fake flags and competitions with one participant", "People from all over the world were able to see our legendary Potemkin villages", "Shame on the whole world!", commentators do not hold back.
Some users were not too lazy to go to the official website of the games, where it turned out that many countries that were declared as "participants" actually had 0 athletes competing.
It is worth noting that Lithuanian wrestler Andrius Mazeika won the BRICS Games without even being in the decisive fight. The final in the Koresh (belt wrestling) discipline was held without a single participant.
On June 17, a Russian synchronized swimmer won the BRICS Games, being the only one in the tournament.
