Mykolenko received a yellow card

Ukraine defender Vitaliy Mykolenko received a yellow card after the referee's final whistle in the Euro 2024 qualifying match against Northern Macedonia. Swiss referee Lucas Fendrich punished our footballer for fighting with the opponent's players and coaches.

At the end of the match, Mykolenko began to expressively celebrate his strong-willed victory. The Macedonian coaching staff and players, who were on the home team's bench at the time, reacted emotionally. They ran onto the pitch and started a fight with the Ukrainian.

As a result, the referee decided that Vitaliy had provoked the opponents and showed him a warning. Along with the Everton defender, North Macedonia's reserve goalkeeper Damjan Šiškovski received a yellow card.

It is worth noting that thanks to the victory over Northern Macedonia, the Ukrainian national team scored the first three points in the qualification for the European Championship. Our team came second in Group C.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Ukraine's head coach Serhiy Rebrov commented on the team's strong-willed victory over Northern Macedonia with the words "we were not the only ones who slept".
