Putin is more important than the Olympics: Russian Olympic champion ridiculously explained his refusal to participate in the Games-2024
Two-time Olympic swimming champion Evgeny Rylov called supporting Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin a more important event than participating in the 2024 Paris Games. The participant of the Z-meeting in Luzhniki last March once again bent over backwards for the president of the Russian terrorist state, which launched another massive missile attack on Ukrainian cities on the morning of December 29.
In an interview with the propaganda news agency Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union Rylov enthused about being invited to become Putin's confidant in the so-called presidential elections in March next year. The swimmer emphasized that he has always supported the Kremlin leader, who "pays great attention to sports."
"I've never denied that I support the president and his work, so I'm very happy to have been invited. I believe that the president pays great attention to sports, and it pays off. Speaking about the Olympic Games in Paris, at the moment, the president's support is more important to me, but I cannot deny the importance of sports either, because sports helped me to achieve certain heights and position in society. I'm not going to participate in the next Olympics, but we will have our own competitions next year, and I really want to do well there," Rylov said.
Earlier, he demanded that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) provide "clean sport" without politics. At the same time, the Russian did not mention the concert in support of the war in Ukraine, for which he was disqualified.
On December 8, the IOC allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympics in a neutral status. This applies only to individual events, and the athletes themselves must meet certain criteria. In response, the entire rhythmic gymnastics team, in addition to Rylov, refused to travel to Paris.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Russian skier Anastasia Faleeva was criticized for having "thoughts " of competing at the Olympics under a neutral flag. Elena Vyalbe also called athletes with similar initiatives traitors.
