PSG goalkeeper hospitalised in critical condition after riding a horse
PSG's fourth goalkeeper Sergio Rico suffered a serious head injury while riding a horse in the village of El Rocio in the Spanish province of Huelva. According to Cope, the animal got nervous under the 29-year-old footballer, after which it threw him off the saddle and hit him in the head with its hoof
Rico was urgently admitted to the intensive care unit of the Virgen del Rocio Hospital in Seville. His condition is assessed as extremely serious. The goalkeeper has been diagnosed with a brain haemorrhage.
Sergio Rico has not played a single match this season for PSG, where he acts as a backup goalkeeper to Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma.
This Saturday, Sergio, who trained at Sevilla's youth academy, where he played in the first team from 2014/15 to 2018/19, was called up for the penultimate match of the French championship. The match against Strasbourg ended in a draw, allowing the Parisians to win the gold medal in the national championship.
After that game, Sergio Rico travelled to El Rocio, which is a place of mass pilgrimage for believers from all over Spain. His teammate Sergio Ramos also travelled to Spain with the goalkeeper, although the central defender remained in Madrid.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, PSG striker Kylian Mbappé smashed a fan's face to bloody with a ball before the game against Strasbourg.
