President of the International Federation known for disrespecting Ukraine called the banning of the Russian flag a humiliation for Russians
President of the International Boxing Federation (IBA), Umar Kremlev, has criticized the deprivation of Russian athletes of the opportunity to compete under their flag and anthem. The representative of the aggressor country, which banned the symbols of Ukraine at the European Youth Championships, called such a step against the representatives of the Russian Federation humiliating.
Kremlev said this during "Russia - Africa" forum, as reported on the propaganda channel "Match TV" website. The illegally elected president of the IBA, which is currently not recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), demanded that functionaries not politicize sport.
"Sports officials are not the owners of the athletes, they are the people who take care of the athletes. When you take the flag away from an athlete, you humiliate him, because the athlete goes to the competition on behalf of his people. He is proud to have his anthem played and his flag raised. Let's take our responsibilities seriously. For me, sport is a hobby, it is not a job, I am here with my heart and soul. It is not a method of making money, it is a tool to bring people together. I would like our sports functionaries to take us seriously," Kremlev said.
Earlier, the IBA ignored the CAS ruling on the presidential ban and re-elected Kremlev. As a result, the ardent fan of dictator Vladimir Putin lifted the Russians' suspension from boxing tournaments and imposed sanctions on Ukraine.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, world champion in triple jump indoors Yolanda Chen urged Russian athletes not to refuse to participate in the Games-2024, calling such a step a gift for the IOC.
