Brazilian police have launched an investigation into an incident that occurred during a match between Gremio Anapolis and Centro Oeste. According to the Daily Mail, Centro won the match with a score of 2:1, and then a fight broke out on the field, after which a police officer fired a rubber bullet at Gremio goalkeeper Ramon Souza.

The video shows the crowd of players moving away from the police officers, and one of them shoots the football player. Souza then limps away from the cop and calls for help.

"Gremio Anapolis confirmed the leg injury, calling the incident a 'criminal act' and promising a full investigation and punishment for the officer responsible.

"A horrific, unbelievable and criminal act by a person who should value the safety and integrity of the people who were at the Estádio Jonas Duarte stadium. July 10 was marked by a cruel and dirty act against one of our players," the text reads.

Later, Gremio Anapolis published photos of Souza after the incident.

A video was also posted online showing one of the medical workers pouring water on the victim's leg to wash away the blood.

The military police of the state of Goiás confirmed that they had launched an investigation into the incident.
