"Our country is a civilization": Russian IIHF champion hysterically insults IIHF president

Fetisov spoke about sanctions against Russia

Two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov threw a real tantrum over the threat of Russia's expulsion from the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The State Duma deputy attacked IIHF President Luke Tardif with outright insults, accusing him of breaking all the rules.

Fetisov said this in an interview with the VseProSport portal. The two-time Stanley Cup winner, commenting on the sanctions against CSKA Moscow for refusing to recognize the disqualification of goaltender Ivan Fedotov, pretended that the IIHF's decision was null and void.

"Our country is a civilization. So why are we paying attention to some moron? Well, all right! Our current internal affairs are more important than anything else! Who are they to us now! They have no right to exclude anyone, they violate all rights, well, let them try! What's the FHL got to do with it? It's the KHL, I think! I don't know who made that decision. The FHL holds the championship, and the CSKA club has nothing to do with the federation. CSKA made the decision, and I think it has every right," said Fetisov.

It should be noted that despite the IIHF's decision, Fedotov took the ice for CSKA in the opening Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) match against Ak Bars, in which the Muscovites conceded five goals. During the warm-up before the match, the army men wore uniforms with symbols of Russia's war against Ukraine and glorification of the Española terrorist group.

Last summer, Fedotov was forcibly conscripted into the Russian army to prevent him from joining the Philadelphia Phillies. Despite the agreement with the NHL club, CSKA signed a parallel deal with Ivan.

The IIHF found the Russians guilty of breaching their contractual obligations. Fedotov was suspended from national and international competitions for four months, from September 1 to December 31. In addition, CSKA is prohibited from making any transfers until August 10 next year.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, two-time Olympic champion Svetlana Ishmuratova made a nonsense statement that the world sports community could not exist without Russia.
