Organizers of Euro 2024 refused to allow the Russian national team to visit, despite UEFA's permission

The Swedish Football Association (SvFF) has refused to allow the Russian U-17 women's national team to participate in the European Championships to be held in Sweden in 2024. On September 26, the European Football Union decided to return Russian junior teams to international competitions under the auspices of UEFA.
The SvFF is convinced that Swedish football players of all ages should not play matches against Russia, either in Sweden or anywhere else abroad.
"We fully support the position agreed upon by the National Sports Confederation together with the Swedish Olympic Committee, the Paralympic Committee and special sports associations - Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be allowed to participate in international competitions while the war against Ukraine is ongoing," the statement reads.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the Swedish and Danish national teams said they would not play with the Russians in the qualifiers for the European Youth Championship. The Scandinavians expressed their support for Ukraine, which continues to resist Russian aggression.
Prior to that, the Polish and Latvian national teams refused to take the field against Russian youth teams, supporting the English boycott.
