Not because of the war. Valuev explains why Usyk stopped loving Russia and "slipped into Russophobia"
Former world heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev believes that Oleksandr Usyk stopped treating Russia well because of pressure from the collective West. According to the State Duma deputy, all of Usyk's funds are abroad, and it is from there that he is being dictated what to say and how to say it.
"Let's be objective. Where do Usyk, Klitschko, and many others who have strayed into Russophobia like this keep their money? Abroad. This money can't be anywhere in Ukraine, it will be reached. Perhaps this is one of the reasons in theory," Valuev said on the Drozd Says YouTube channel.
The Russian parliamentarian admitted that after the recent attacks on Russia, he "has some disappointment" in Usyk as a person.
"Nothing can be done about this disappointment with all the [qualities] that remain from the point of view of a boxer, but he made his choice, to which he was actively pushed. He had nowhere to go, but that's no excuse for his actions. It's a fact, and if he thought otherwise, I'm sure he had every opportunity... Not to speak out for Russia, but to go out and say whatever he wanted," Valuev, 51, summarized.
