"Noisy, uncomfortable": former Russian national team player complains about shelling in Belgorod "as scheduled"
Yesipov talks about air defense in Belgorod

Former Russian national football player Valery Yesipov called the situation in Belgorod, where the Russian army deploys many military facilities, "noisy". The former player of Volgograd's Rotor complained about shelling in the city, without specifying that everything was calm before the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Yesipov said this in an interview with Sport24. The 52-year-old native of the Kursk region, who played six matches with Dynamo Kyiv in 1992, admitted that he had no intention of leaving Belgorod because he could not leave the house around which he was watching the site.

"Belgorod is noisy now. It's uncomfortable, but not critical. Drones are also flying to Moscow, so there's that. But since December 30, when they hit the center, the number of attacks has increased. As per the schedule: in the morning, afternoon and evening. A few days ago, I went to the clinic with my wife and daughter, and air defense started working on us. We ran into the hospital, where we took shelter. We sat there for about ten minutes and came out. My daughter and her friends are going to study in Stavropol soon, and they will live in a hotel. And where do I go? Spring, the garden, seedlings - how can I leave the house?" said Yesipov.
