"No one will remember": Russian vice-champion of the Olympic Games calls Russian athletes without a flag "spit on"
Komarova called for a boycott

Stanislava Komarova, vice-champion of the 2004 Olympics, spoke out against the participation of Russian athletes in international tournaments in a neutral status. The former swimmer called such athletes "spit on" and questioned their patriotism.

Komarova said this in an interview with the propaganda news agency TASS. The three-time European champion also regretted that the Russian swimming championships have no special status and do not add to the athletes' popularity among fans.

"It's a personal matter for the athlete, everyone has the right to make their own decisions, but as a Russian patriot, I think it's not fair to go there spit on, even in relation to other athletes. Although, of course, we shouldn't forget that for many people, training for another five years before the next Games is a lot. When you compete at the Olympics, the whole country is talking about you, but the Russian Championships are over, the athlete has left the pool, and tomorrow no one will remember him or her," Komarova said.
