The brother of Russian fencer Anna Smirnova, Nikita, made a ridiculous excuse for a photo in military uniform, after which Ukraine called for the saber fencer to be stripped of her neutral status. The representative of the aggressor country, fearing for his relative's career, tried to convince everyone that he had nothing to do with the crimes of the Russian army.
Smirnov said this on the air of the propaganda TV channel Match TV. The brother of the fencer, who staged a real circus at the World Championships after Olga Kharlan refused to shake her hand, called himself an "ordinary conscript", pretending that such soldiers allegedly do not take part in the war against Ukraine.
"My sister is fine. I don't like to speak on camera, ask her all the questions, I don't decide. I wanted to prove to everyone on the social network that I am not fighting in the 'SVO' (the shameful name in Russia for the full-scale invasion of our country. - Ed.), that I am not a contract soldier, but an ordinary conscript who is already at home. And that photo was taken in Moscow, when I was on my way back to my unit from the field guard," Smirnov said.
It will be recalled that Kharlan defeated Smirnova in the round of 32 of the 2023 World Cup in Milan. After the fight, our compatriot refused to shake hands with her opponent. The Russian representative lodged a protest against the result of the duel, which was rejected.
The propaganda TV channel Match TV published a photo of the denunciation that the Russian woman had written against Olga. As a result, the international federation disqualified Kharlan from the 2023 World Cup, but suspended its decision the next day. Russian propagandists also issued a ridiculous fake about Kharlan.
