Kostiuk refused to play for the Ukrainian national team: what happened
Famous Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostiuk will not play for the national team this year and probably next year. The 21-year-old player from Kyiv explained it by "the situation with the UTF", meaning the players' demand to dismiss the vice-president of the federation Yevhen Zukin for alleged harassment and bullying.
Kostiuk said this in an interview with Big Tennis Ukraine, sharing her plans for the final part of the season. At the same time, she intends to defend the honor of the country at the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris. She has already met the standards.

"My plans for the end of the season are to play in San Diego, Guadalajara, Japan and China. I will look at the results. If I perform very well somewhere, I may miss a week, but the plan now is to finish the season in China. I don't plan to play for the national team this year and probably for the next year either because of the situation with the UTF. Olympics? As far as I know, I have met the standard for getting there and, of course, it is included in my plans next year," Kostiuk.

It should be noted that Marta defended Ukraine in April and could not hold back her tears during the anthem. In November, the Ukrainian women's national tennis team will play against the Netherlands in the playoffs of Group 1 of the Billie Jean King Cup. The victory in the match will allow our girls to compete for a ticket to the elite division of the competition next year.
