In the United States, a student died after climbing a lamppost to watch the team's championship parade. The moment was caught on video

Temple University student Tyler Sabapathy, 18, tragically died on January 29, 2025, after suffering fatal injuries when he fell from a lamppost during the celebration of the Philadelphia Eagles' victory over the Washington Commanders in the National Football League final, USA Today reports.

The incident took place in the center of Philadelphia, at the intersection of 15th and Market Streets. The video shows Sabapathy climbing a pole and then falling to the sidewalk, sustaining serious head injuries that caused brain damage. The young man was immediately taken to the hospital, but died a few days later from his injuries.

Tyler was a successful gymnast, collecting more than 120 medals at provincial, regional and international competitions and studying exercise and sport science at Temple University. He was a member of the university's club gymnastics team. The University has expressed its condolences to Tyler's family and friends, and has provided psychological support to students and faculty.

This tragedy occurred on the same evening as another car accident in Philadelphia that also resulted in numerous injuries. A car plowed into a crowd of people celebrating an Eagles victory, and although the injured were taken to the hospital, there were no fatalities in this incident.

Police continue to investigate these two incidents.
