Bowie repeated Carmelita Jeter's unique 2011 achievement

Three-time 2016 Olympic sprint medalist Tori Bowie has died, according to her management company, Icon Management. The 2017 world champion in the 100-meter dash was 32 years old.

"We lost a client, a dear friend, a daughter and a sister," the company wrote on Twitter. "Tori was a champion ... a ray of light that shone so brightly!"

Bowie, raised by her grandmother in rural Mississippi, switched from long jumping to sprinting in 2014 and became the fastest woman in the world in the 100-meter dash that year.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she won silver in the 100-meter dash and bronze in the 200-meter dash, and won gold in the 4x100-meter relay in the United States.

A year later, she became world champion in her crowning 100 meters. Bowie repeated Carmelita Jeter's unique 2011 achievement, winning the Olympic and world title in the 100 meters.

Shortly after her success at the Mundial, Bowie returned to the long jump sector, placing fourth at the 2019 World Championships. It was her last major competition.
