"I dream of peace": Russian football legend flees to Spain. He condemned the war in Ukraine

Former Russian national football player Vasily Berezutsky has moved to Spain. The UEFA Cup winner with CSKA Moscow and European Championship bronze medalist, who condemned his country's war against Ukraine, decided to move to Marbella.

Berezutsky said this in an interview with journalist Nobel Arustamyan's YouTube channel. The former central defender, who played 101 matches for the national team, admitted that he dreams of living in peace and security. "At the moment, I dream of peace in the whole world. It was calm, safe, and for humanity to finally come to its senses and realize that some things are not necessary," Vasily said.

He also added that he had been in Spain for several months and had chosen this country to live in. The Russian also started learning the language.

"I have been here for eight months. Why Marbella? I like it. I went to Barcelona first, then to Marbella. Why didn't you stay in Barcelona? Marbella is better. Because of the weather, at least in winter, the food, plus the atmosphere. There are quite a few people from Russia with whom you can communicate. My children go to school in Marbella. I'm going to live in Spain in the coming years," the ex-footballer summarized.
