Head coach of the Ukrainian national team decided to leave the team and the country because of the war, refusing to work with the players

Luis Cortes, the head coach of the Ukrainian women's national football team, has informed the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) that he is leaving the position of the yellow and blue team's coach. The 36-year-old Spaniard will stop being a coach on 31 August, as soon as his contract expires.
According to sport.es, the reason for this decision was the war and lack of competitiveness. Cortes announced his decision on the last day of the training camp in Portugal in July this year.
It was a difficult time for the players and staff, the Spanish media reported, citing sources who were present at the conversation. The media specify that the players were shocked to hear about it.
Sources close to the coach said that Cortes is now looking for a team for next season. He is ready to return to club football. He also does not rule out the possibility that in the short term he could lead another national team.
It will be recalled that under the leadership of the Spanish specialist, Ukraine failed to qualify for the 2023 Women's World Cup.
