Hat-trick in 3 minutes, games without a break, goalscorer extravaganza: which APL records can never be surpassed
Become the top scorer in a few matches? Spend a season without defeat? And what do you know the records of the APL? OBOZ.UA tells about incredible achievements of the Premier League, which, it seems, no one and never can surpass. Some you may not have known.
Hat-trick in three minutes
Sadio Mane drew attention to his persona in 2015: then in just 2 minutes and 56 seconds, he scored three times against Aston Villa. Another Southampton player turned the start of the first half of the home game into an extravaganza, from his own rebound and two assists from Shane Long. On the young and active winger in a year will pay attention to Liverpool. This record will never be broken: even if everything is played out as quickly as possible, a possible VAR check will artificially drag out the time. Therefore, enjoy this hat-trick once again:
Longest home unbeaten streak ever
Today's Chelsea look back with sadness at their achievement of 20 years ago: that London club was unbeaten at Stamford Bridge for 86 consecutive games! This fantastic streak began under Mourinho in March 2004 and lasted until October 2008! Liverpool interrupted this procession (which is a shame - with a score of only 1-0). You will be surprised, but now the Aristocrats are capable of creating a new series: the club has not tasted defeat at home since February. The fortress is strong for 7 games in a row, the last 5 - exclusively victories. Is it possible to increase the figure, if the first opponent in the APL in the new draw is Manchester City?
Fastest goal in the league
One of the few still surpassed records in the APL is the fastest goal. Although it will be very difficult to do so, Shane Long's achievement has held for almost 10 years. It happened while playing for Southampton: at the time, the 27-year-old striker was just starting his long career for the Saints and in the match against Watford, he proactively went for the rebound and scored in 7 seconds and 69 hundredths! The most amazing thing is that the opponents were in possession of the ball at the time. To beat the time is possible, but it will be very difficult:
Longest game without a break
Brad Friedel is a goalkeeper with a built-in perpetual motion machine. It looks like he will forever hold the record for the longest appearances, 310 consecutive games in the English Premier League! Just imagine: that's over 8 seasons, not counting cup games and international competitions. The goalkeeper started this series back at Blackburn in May 2004, then continued at Aston Villa and developed to an incredible mark when playing at Tottenham. The last match of uninterrupted play occurred in the fall of 2012. This is the most incredible record in the APL and we give 99.9% that Friedel will remain the only player with this status.
Record-breaking coach
Arsene Wenger has written a landmark success story: he coached Arsenal for 22 consecutive years! Ferguson was at the helm of "MJ" longer, but it is in the APL that the Frenchman holds the leadership. That one is not particularly memorable as a player, but he created a top career as a coach. Back at Monaco, he gained a reputation as a specialist who knows how to spot young talent. Two years after Japan, he will be invited to London - and an incredible procession will begin. During this time, the canoniers will win the championship three times, 7 times to raise the Cup and the Super Cup of England and once reach the final of the Champions League. The coach will submit another incredible series, about it a little further on.
Winning coach
Now that's certainly about Ferguson. He and Wenger were eternal rivals, as recently as Klopp and Guardiola. Sir Alex was able to win 13 seasons during his period in England's revamped elite tournament, United were then at the top of European soccer. Twice during this period managed to win the APL trophy three years in a row, Ferguson even completed several doubles and the Golden Treble, giving fans an incredible 2-1 victory in the Champions League over Bayern Munich. Closer to him is Guardiola: Pep already has 6 trophies. Although it is not a fact that the Spaniard will continue his coaching career at the helm of the Citizens.
Longest scoring streak by a single player
Jamie Vardy, an APL icon from the middle of the last decade, retains this status. The Leicester striker scored in eleven consecutive matches - such a simple and such a difficult achievement is written in golden letters in the history of the tournament for a long time. That very victorious for the foxes season 15/16 forward began with a goal Bournemouth, and ended the series with a goal against MJ. So the Englishman surpassed the achievement of van Nistelrooy. The closest came Holand, when in the spring of 23rd for 5 games scored 7 goals, to the current record even the superforward is still very far away. Vardy is back in the elite this season and could swing his own title.
Fastest scorer
But the Norwegian already has a personal achievement - his own 50 goals. It only took him 48 games in the Premier League to score that many! Erling reached this mark in style, with a goal against Liverpool. No one in the highest division of England has ever scored fifty goals so quickly (for example, Andy Cole needed 65 games for the same number, and Salah 72). The number of strikes is also incredible, 88. That is, on average, Holland spent 1.76 strikes per goal. In his third year at City, the forward has slightly reduced his pace, although he continues to rewrite other records to his credit.
A record that can only be repeated
Well, to conclude Arsenal's magnificent unbeaten season. With 26 wins, 12 draws and zero defeats, the 2003/04 campaign brought them gold and the title of "invincible". It was also the second season in which the Gunners didn't lose a single away game, something no one had ever managed to do (MJ did it only once). Who knew that the Londoners would then spend a bunch of years trying to win the APL once again. It is impossible to surpass this achievement, you can only make it more beautiful: fewer draws or win all the matches in the APL. But in today's England, that is not possible.
