Former Russian national team player, who was called "a burp of degrading Russia", called for an end to all foreign
Former Russian national footballer Roman Shirokov spoke out against foreigners and expressed his indignation that the aggressor country does not value its athletes. In his opinion, Russia has a prejudice that everything Western is superior to everything Russian.
Shirokov said this in an interview with Championship.com. He complained that Russian athletes are underestimated in their own country. The former Spartak and Zenit player, who has been called "the burp of degrading Russia", called for an end to the reverence for the West.
"I have always said and will continue to say that we have a reverence for legionnaires. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990, we have had a reverence for everything foreign. Everything foreign is good. This should have been stopped long ago. For some reason, we don't take the good things from the West, but only the sh*t. They move their own people everywhere, while we bury our own players. Friends, in 90% of cases, Russian players have given and brought much more to our football and clubs than these vaunted foreigners," Shirokov said.
The ex-footballer supported the war in Ukraine, saying that the Russian army was "fighting for peace" in our country.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, former Shakhtar, Nyva and Chayka youth striker Mykhailo Kostenko went missing near Bakhmut.
