Swiss Servette footballer Gael Ondoua, who played at the 2022 World Cup wearing the Russian flag, has been denied a British visa. The 27-year-old Cameroon midfielder, who has a Russian passport, will miss the first match of the Champions League third qualifying round against Scottish Rangers.

"I'm not flying to Scotland with the team. I failed to get a visa. I wish the team to show their best. Good luck, guys, I'm waiting for you at home," Ondoua wrote on his Telegram channel.

Servette has confirmed the information that Ondoua still has no visa and is not traveling to the Glasgow game.

"Significant efforts made by the club and its player in cooperation with the Scottish Football Association for more than two weeks have not been sufficient. We are sorry and support our player. The team will have to perform without an important player in the squad for unsportsmanlike reasons," Servette said in a statement.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Ondoua, while playing in the German Hanover, complained of bullying. The Lokomotiv Moscow pupil added that the second Bundesliga club no longer counted on him and he was deprived of the opportunity to participate in matches.
