Famous American super heavyweight Kevin Johnson lost to Russian Mark Petrovsky at the REN TV Fight Club super series tournament. The fight in Moscow ended in a unanimous decision of the judges with the score of 57-57, 60-54, 60-54.
The 43-year-old asked for the Russian Federation anthem to be played before the fight.
The meeting itself was dominated by Petrovsky, who had several opportunities to finish the fight by knockout. Commentators, having seen the score tied by one judge were shocked by the result, noting that such numbers do not reflect the real fight.
It became known that Johnson decided to change his name in honor of Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 8. According to the boxer, he wanted to compliment the head of the Kremlin and asked to be called Kevin Vladimirovich.
Before the fight with Petrovsky, Johnson came to the weigh-in ceremony in Moscow wearing a T-shirt with a portrait of the Kremlin leader.
Johnson, defeated Vyacheslav Datsik at a REN TV fight club tournament on April 1 and asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to grant him Russian citizenship.
