An 18-year-old football player was found guilty of manslaughter as a result of a traffic violation. He was sentenced to two years in prison with a suspended sentence.

"Now I realize that I should never have done it, that it could have been easily avoided. I regret driving on the sidewalk. I apologize to the family of the victim and sincerely regret what I did," Lambourd said in court.

Initially, the prosecutor demanded the revocation of the driver's license for one year with a ban on re-issuing it for the same period, but the judge decided to give the player a suspended prison sentence. Last season, Lambourd played 34 matches for Rennes U-19 and Rennes' reserve team, scoring 16 goals.
