"Empires feed on them": the Russian Foreign Ministry complained about the meanness of the West because of the suspension of Russian athletes
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has once again accused international organizations of politicizing sports. The diplomat called the suspension of Russian athletes from world competitions an injustice set up by "Western and American regimes."
Zakharova said this in a comment to the TASS propaganda news agency. The representative of the aggressor country, which unleashed a criminal war against Ukraine, expressed the absurd idea that Russian athletes are allegedly adored by fans around the world.
"The measures taken by either the American or Western regimes against Russian athletes do not reflect the attitude of people towards our athletes. They contradict the way people, fans or athletes themselves feel about the principles of Olympism and treat athletes from different countries. It goes against the grain, it contradicts both Olympism and the feelings of the majority of the population in these countries. And the example of how our athletes play for teams within the United States is the best evidence of this. Entire empires of American sports feed on them, they are adored and worshipped there," Zakharova said.
Earlier, she called Russia's suspension from international competitions one of the manifestations of "perversion of the Olympic movement" that "the Anglo-Saxons and other NATO members have propagated." She also said that "the world has one last chance to save world sport."
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, dictator Vladimir Putin's aide Igor Levitin was mocked after he attacked the IOC with the words "what kind of s*ckers are you". In turn, Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin demands that the IOC exclude "condemnation of Putin's policies" from the conditions of admission to the 2024 Olympics.
