Drama of the day. A track and field athlete fell a meter before the finish line and lost the "gold" of the World Championships. Video

Netherlands' track and field team leader Femke Bol fell in the last meters of the 4 x 400 meters relay at the World Championships in Budapest. The 23-year-old European champion and Diamond League winner had been competing for gold but ended up with nothing.
Bol was running on the last leg of the relay and was ahead of her main competitor from the USA at the finish line. With only a few meters left to the finish line, Bol tripped and fell on the running track.
Femke managed to get up quickly and finish the race third, but in the end she and the whole team were disqualified.
During the fall, the Dutchwoman dropped her baton, which is considered a rules violation.
The United States team, thanks to the fall of a competitor, not only became the winner of the Mundial, but also set a world record. The time of 3:08.80 minutes was the fastest in history in the mixed relay at this distance.
