"Don't worry! We have already been suspended": Russia is offended by the Ukrainian world champion
Famous figure skating coach Tatyana Tarasova was outraged by the demand of Ukrainian world champion in high jump Yaroslava Maguchikh to prevent Russian athletes from participating in international competitions. The representative of the aggressor country expressed confidence that our compatriot is allegedly afraid of competition.
Tarasova said this in a commentary to the propaganda publication Sport-Express. The former figure skater pretended not to understand Maguchikh's call, which was made in the context of so-called neutral athletes, and complained about the ban on Russians participating in tournaments with national symbols.
"We have already been suspended. Perhaps she didn't know and has only just found out. She's training, she doesn't have time to read newspapers or listen to the radio. Otherwise, I don't even know what to say. We haven't participated in anything for almost two years, and suddenly an athlete from Ukraine is asking everyone to suspend us. Don't worry! We have already been suspended. I think she doesn't want us to compete because our athletes will claim victories. Why does she want that?" said Tarasova.
Earlier, Maguchikh caused hysteria among Russians after she shouted the patriotic cry "Glory to Ukraine!" at the 2023 World Cup, where she won gold. Russian propagandists demanded that the athlete be fined at the very least, calling her behavior a bacchanalian act.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Yaroslava Maguchikh took part in a non-standard photo shoot for the fashion magazine Vogue, provoking a resonance among fans.
