"Crazy. Children are being dragged to the front line": Russian Olympic champion threw a tantrum over Mahuchikh's "Glory to Ukraine" chant
Four-time Olympic champion Alexandr Tikhonov threw a real tantrum over the "Glory to Ukraine!" chant from Yaroslava Mahuchikh at the World Athletics Championships. The winner of the Games 1968-1980 simply went mad because of the patriotism of our athlete and said that Ukrainians do not think about their country.
Tikhonov said this in an interview with the RIA Novosti propaganda news agency. The former biathlete started insulting Ukrainians and added that our country should be grateful to the Soviet dictator and tyrant Joseph Stalin.
"If Mahuchikh was told so, how will she behave? They have such a situation, they are gutless. We see that they are already dragging their children to the front line. They do not think about the people, they do not think about Ukraine. They should thank Joseph Stalin for the fact that Western Ukraine did not remain in Poland. Maybe they don't know history. I was trained in Western Ukraine, they hated us even then. We are a huge great power, we need to think about Russia. And we should not be ashamed of it neither in sports nor in everything else," Tikhonov said.
Earlier, journalists from the Sport24 Russian portal demanded at least a fine for Mahuchikh's chant of "Glory to Ukraine!" at the 2023 World Cup. Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova said that the track and field athlete was allegedly forced to "say nasty things" about Russian aggression.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Vasiliev expressed outrage over Yaroslava Mahuchikh's patriotic cry "Glory to Ukraine!" after the victory. And another OI winner from the Russian Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili called the act of our athlete immoral.
