Coach of Ukraine's main rival in Euro 2024 qualifying unexpectedly resigned a month before the match with Rebrov's team
Italy head coach Roberto Mancini has resigned from his post just a month before the next matches of the qualifying tournament for the European Championship 2024. The coach of the Ukrainian team's main rival for the championship stopped his work with the Scuadra Azzurra five years after his appointment.
This is reported by the official website of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). The reasons for this unexpected decision are not given, but the media found out that Mancini received an ultra-lucrative offer to head the Saudi Arabian national team.
Negotiations between the parties are at the final stage. In November, the Saudis will start qualifying for the World Cup-2026, where they will play Jordan, Tajikistan and the winner of the Cambodia-Pakistan pairing.
It should be noted that after the England national team defeated Italy in Rome and Ukraine in London in Euro-2024 qualifying, it is with the Scuadra Azzurra that Serhiy Rebrov's team will fight for a direct ticket to the championship in Germany. On September 12, the rivals will meet in Milan at the San Siro stadium.
Recall that together with Mancini, the Italian national team won the European Championship in 2020, and then sensationally failed to get to the World Cup-2022, losing in the semifinals of the play-off qualification of Northern Macedonia. In total, under the leadership of the legendary footballer "Scuadra Adzurra" held 61 matches, in which 37 wins and 15 draws.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the leader of the Ukrainian national team Ruslan Malinovsky decided to leave the French "Marseille" and move to the team, where he will become a replacement for a player of the Russian national team. In addition, the goalkeeper of Shakhtar Donetsk Anatoly Trubin moved to a titled European club.
