Kozhevnikov speaks out about the United States

Two-time Olympic champion Alexander Kozhevnikov has spouted fantastic nonsense about Russia's complete superiority over the United States. The former hockey player, in a patriotic frenzy, called America a dump and the aggressor country an example of openness, democracy, respect for human rights and the law.

Kozhevnikov said this in an interview with Sports.ru. The 1982 World Cup winner admired the way people's problems are solved in Russia, claiming that Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime encourages denunciation, organizes repressions, and destroys political rivals.

"Our country is the best in everything - in openness, in democracy. Although we may be offended by everything, if you understand it correctly, if you read something, you see it from the outside. Everything is changing, yes. Maybe it was not very good at some times, and there were problems. But at least they are daring. I call people - it's a mess, a pure mess. It's like drug addiction. You don't have to look far to see what's going on in hockey. So it's clearly a dump," Kozhevnikov said.
