Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina after winning the quarterfinals of Wimbledon-2023 emotionally reacted to a French journalist's question at a press conference. The 28-year-old tennis player was reminded of her own words.
"During a flash interview right after the game with Swiatek, you said that if someone had told you at the beginning of the tournament that you could reach the semifinals and beat the best tennis player on the planet, you would have thought he was crazy. So can you win Wimbledon?" the man inquired.
"Are you crazy?" Svitolina replied with a laugh.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, Elina Svitolina, having made it to the semifinals of Wimbledon for the second time in her career, became the 5th tennis player since the beginning of the Open Era, who managed to reach the 1/2 finals of the Grand Slam tournament as a wild card holder.
After this success, Elina is guaranteed to break into the top-30 of the WTA rankings and become the first racket of Ukraine.
In the semifinals of Wimbledon-2023 Elina will play with the Czech Republic's Markéta Vondroušová. The Czech beat American Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals.
