Russians suspended from international competitions

The Russian Football Union (RFU) has pretended that the statement by the head of European football (UEFA), Alexander Čeferin, about the possibility of returning Russian teams to international tournaments only after the end of the war is not true. The organization referred to its own dialogue with UEFA, ignoring the words of the Slovenian official himself.

This was stated by the Russian Football Federation press service in response to a request from the TASS propaganda news agency. Moscow emphasized that the issue of allowing Russian teams to participate in the competition is also being discussed with the International Football Federation (FIFA), and called Cheferin's quotes in the media speculation.

"The Russian Football Federation is in dialogue with FIFA and UEFA and consistently conveys its position on the need for Russia to return to official international competitions. We focus on direct communication with international football organizations. Its content, by agreement of the parties, remains non-public, but differs significantly from speculation and interpretations published in the press," the RFF said.
