A champion driver died at a Formula race in Belgium. Video of a serious crash

The Dutch racing driver Dilano van't Hoff, who plays for the team MP Motorsport, died in Belgium, where there was a round of the Regional European Formula Championship, which is held by the team Alpine. The 18-year-old Dilano, who won the Spanish Formula 4 in 2021, had a terrible accident at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
Everything happened at the entrance of the Kemmel straight. Because of the heavy rain, visibility was zero. Van't Hoff lost control and his car was blown into the middle of the track. That's when Adam Fitzgerald crashed into the side of the track.
The competition was immediately stopped and the riders were assisted by a medical team on the track. Both victims were rushed to the county medical center, but the Dutchman could not be saved. The other rider was not too badly hurt. The stage was completed ahead of schedule.
"The Alpine European Formula Regional Championship is saddened to announce the death of MP Motorsport driver Dilano van 't Hoff. The Royal Automobile Club of Belgium, Spa-Francorchamps circuit and SRO Motorsports Group join Alpine and ACI in expressing their sincere condolences to the driver's family, team and friends," read a statement from the organizers.
The participants of the Formula 2 round in Austria observed a minute of silence in memory of the crashed colleague.
