3 Ukrainian athletes killed in battle with Russian invaders

On 19 June, Mykhailo Movchan (Tin), Oleksandr Tykhonets (Tykhon) and Yaroslav Kholmohorov (Kholm) were killed during a combat mission in the south of Bakhmut. They served in an anti-tank battalion of the 3rd Brigade.
Yaroslav Kholmohorov served as a platoon commander of the 1st Company. Before the war, he was a well-known fan of CSKA Kyiv, who began actively supporting the club back in the noughties. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he defended Kyiv with arms in hand. Later, he took part in battles in the Zaporizhzhia sector, and during the defence of Bakhmut, he led a platoon.

The 21-year-old Slavuta futsal player Oleksandr Tykhonets started his career at the Children's and Youth Sports School (Slavuta), then played for the youth teams of Sokol Khmelnytskyi, Sokol-2 and Slavuta.
