11 medals for Ukraine: the XXI World Summer Universiade has ended in China

The student team of Ukraine has finished its performance at the World Summer Universiade in Chengdu (China) in 13th place among 115 participating countries. Our team won 11 awards - 4 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze!

Here are all our medallists:

Khrystyna Pogranichna, rhythmic gymnastics (Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture) - 2 gold (hoop and ribbon exercises), 1 silver (individual all-around)

Vladyslav Lavskyi, athletics (Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after Hzhytskyi) - gold in the high jump

Nazar Chepurnyi, artistic gymnastics (National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine) - gold in the vault

Nicole Krasiuk, Daryna Shcherbakova, Diana Dovhaniuk (National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine), Marta Borys, Anastasiia Ptashnyk (Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture), Daria Ivanik (Ivan Franko National University of Lviv) - rhythmic gymnastics, silver in the group all-around, bronze in the five-hoop exercise.

Yulia Loban, athletics (National University "Chernihiv Collegium" named after Shevchenko) - silver in the heptathlon

Yan Sych, fencing (Kharkiv National Pedagogical University named after Skovoroda) - silver medal in epee fencing

Roman Petruk, athletics (Ivan Franko Zhytomyr State University) - bronze medal in high jump

Andrii Garbar, taekwondo (Donbas State Machine-Building Academy) - bronze in the weight category over 87 kg.

In total, Ukraine was represented by 61 athletes from 28 universities and 15 regions of Ukraine. Our students competed in 10 sports: athletics, badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, judo, volleyball, taekwondo, archery, wushu and fencing.

Vadym Stetsenko, Head of the Committee on Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Head of the delegation to the Chengdu Universiade:

"This is definitely a successful performance! Despite the war in the country, our athletes managed to prepare and represent Ukraine with dignity at the largest student competitions.

We would like to thank the following people for their joint preparation to ensure the participation of the Ukrainian student team in the World Summer Universiade: student athletes, coaches, teachers and rectors of higher education institutions, sports federations, the Sports Student Union of Ukraine, the Committee on Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, education and science of Ukraine!

The world's main student competition lasted from 28 July to 8 August. 7,000 participants from 115 countries and 900 universities competed for medals in 18 sports.
