In the village of Shebutyntsi, Dniester district, Chernivtsi region, a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate did not want to open the door to the altar at the funeral of a Ukrainian defender. This happened during the funeral service of a local resident, an Armed Forces soldier, Anatoliy Harabara.

When one of the people attending the funeral began filming what was happening on his phone and asked the priest to open the altar again, Father Petro agreed. On November 1, the corresponding video was posted on Facebook by the OCU chaplain Roman Hryshchuk (to watch the recording, scroll to the end of the page).

He said that the family doubted the views of the local priest and invited the chaplains of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to perform the funeral service for the deceased.

It was agreed with Father Peter that the service would be held in the church. However, according to Hryshchuk, the UOC-MP priest did not want to open the gates to the altar during the prayer, although in Bukovyna this is done during every funeral service.

"He motivated this by the fact that, in his opinion, we can bury this soldier-hero even under the club..." the chaplain wrote.

He drew attention to the fact that Father Peter, during the conflict situation, "sat down royally" on the Mountain Seat, a symbolic chair behind the throne that symbolizes the presence of God.
