During spring walks, you need to follow certain rules to minimize the risk of being bitten, and check yourself carefully afterward. The Ministry of Health has explained which places on the body should be checked after being outdoors, as they are very popular with ticks.

You probably won't notice that you've been bitten by a tick while you're out and about because they secrete anesthetic and anesthetize the wound.

Where a tick can bite

Ticks most often attach to places on the body where the skin is thin and delicate. They can also crawl under clothes and get stuck where there are folds of fabric.

When you get home, be sure to check yourself from the bottom up in the following places:

• Sock line;
• The armpit;
• Underwear area;
• Abdomen;
• Armpits;
• Chest;
• Shirt collar;
• Neck and ears;
• Hair and scalp.

Also, after outdoor activities or walks, you should take a shower and wash all the clothes you were wearing, as ticks could have gotten caught on them somewhere.

How to protect yourself from ticks

First of all, you should refrain from walking in the woods, but if you are planning an outdoor vacation or where there is tall grass, take care of safe clothing. These should be high socks, long-sleeved sweaters, and pants. You should also wear something light to immediately notice if a tick falls on you.

Secondly, when walking, stay close to the center of the trail and do not go into the grass.

Thirdly, use repellents – products that repel insects.
