Prosecutor: About a million dollars of bribe money not found in Knyazev's possession

Law enforcement officers did not find a significant amount of money from a bribe to make a decision on behalf of the former head of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev. We are talking about almost a million dollars.

This statement was made by Prosecutor of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office Oleksandr Omelchenko at the High Council of Justice. This was reported by Ukrinform.

Thus, answering the question of how much money law enforcement officers were missing after the searches, Omelchenko said: "About a million dollars as the subject of undue advantage."

He clarified that the money was transferred to Knyazev in two stages: On May 3, $1,350,000 was handed over, and on May 15, another $450,000.

During searches at Knyazev's home, $450,000 was found, and another $597,000 was found in his office. The rest of the money has not yet been found.

It is worth noting that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office detained a judge of the Supreme Court of Ukraine while he was receiving an undue benefit of USD 2.7 million. This is the largest corruption scheme involving top management and ordinary judges.

It should be reminded that the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office insisted on placing Knyazev in pre-trial detention. Such a measure of restraint fully meets the expectations of Ukrainian society, which is particularly intolerant of corruption in times of war.

During the investigation, it became known that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who has already become odious, took money for a decision in favour of oligarch Konstantin Zhevago. The case in question is the ownership of a 40.19% stake in Ferrexpo's Poltava Mining and Processing Plant, which was considered by the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, according to media reports, Knyazev was detained while receiving the largest bribe since the beginning of the full-scale war.
