The West may limit military support for Ukraine

Due to the ambiguous position of the US Congress, further military support for Ukraine is at risk of being disrupted. There are also problems with receiving adequate assistance from other Western partners.

The majority of Ukrainians believe that the termination of military aid will significantly affect the fighting and the outcome of the Russian-Ukrainian war in general. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.

Ukrainians were asked whether our country can succeed with proper support from the West. The vast majority of Ukrainians – 87% – believe that if the West helps Ukraine with weapons, finance, and sanctions, our country will be able to defeat the aggressor country of Russia and achieve an acceptable result. At the same time, only 6% of respondents believe that Russia is too strong regardless of Western support.

However, most Ukrainians are inclined to believe that even if Western aid is significantly reduced, military operations should continue to put pressure on the Russian occupiers. At the same time, 58% of Ukrainians believe that in this case, additional risks arise for the territories controlled by Ukraine.

At the same time, every third respondent believes that it is better to stop the fighting if the West provides really serious security guarantees, even if the liberation of the occupied territories is delayed indefinitely. The remaining 10% were undecided.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian military leadership, together with its American counterparts, is developing a new strategy for the Russian-Ukrainian war. It will be implemented in early 2024 to return the initiative to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in all areas of the front.

Earlier it was reported that upon arrival in Washington, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Russia's real goal is not so much to seize sovereign Ukraine but to destroy democracy and stability throughout the free world.
