The Ministry of Healthcare with the support of Favbet has launched a study on gambling addiction

The Ministry of Healthcare, with the support of Favbet, has launched the first large-scale study of gambling addiction in Ukraine. It will help specialists to detect signs of risky behavior in a timely manner and prevent gambling addiction.

This was reported by the Institute of Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatric Examination and Drug Monitoring of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The social research is carried out by a team of experts, sociologists and scientists from the Center for Responsible Gaming (RGC) and the Institute of Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatric Examination and Drug Monitoring of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with the support of the main patron - Favbet.

Based on the study of gambling behavior, a team of scientists, doctors, psychologists, lawyers, and sociologists will establish criteria for pathological and problem gambling behavior and form a "portrait" of a positive and problem gambler.

This will help gambling companies and doctors to detect signs of risky gambling behavior in a timely manner and prevent gambling addiction.

This work will also result in recommendations for the professional medical community on the application of gambling addiction treatment protocols.

The study will help to develop tools for self-identification of problematic/pathological gambling behavior in a player and, based on the criteria for such behavior, to develop an algorithm of actions and recommendations for self-help to prevent the risk of gambling addiction.

The study should also help to develop recommendations for gambling business organizers to identify players with problematic/pathological gambling behavior and an algorithm of actions for responsible representatives to help such people.
