Zendaya revealed as Felicia in first teaser for Shrek 5

Almost a quarter of a century has passed since the premiere of the original Shrek cartoon, and 15 since the latest fourth installment. Thus, it will hardly come as a surprise to anyone that the announced Shrek 5 film will feature an adult child of the good-natured ogre and his wife, Princess Fiona.

And the first teaser has revealed all the secrets. From the video that Universal Pictures published on their YouTube channel, we learn who the daughter will be, what she will look like and who will voice her. It was a real surprise for everyone, but it appeared to be Zendaya.

According to Variety, the red-haired, green-skinned beauty with a nose piercing will be named Felicia. She is the only new character in the franchise to appear in the video.

It begins with the Donkey asking the Magic Mirror who is the fairest in the world. And the Mirror answers, "Why Shrek! Of course," and shows the character in different images that resemble photos on social media that have been edited. After that comes a shot of Felicia shouting "Ew, dad!" She is followed by Fiona, who disagrees with her daughter. "Oooh, Mommy like," she says. "Who is making this stuff?" asks Shrek, after which Pinocchio bursts into the frame, exclaiming: "Not me!" and his nose immediately begins to grow.

All the main actors of the franchise will return to voice their characters. Shrek is Mike Myers, and Fiona is Cameron Diaz. Comedian Eddie Murphy will once again voice Donkey.

It should be noted that back in 2017, Zendaya admitted on her Twitter page (now X) that she loved watching Shrek as an adult. Now she will become a part of her favorite animation franchise.

It is already known that Shrek 5 will be released on December 23, 2026. The return of the franchise will take place during the Christmas holidays and mark the 25th anniversary of the first cartoon. The film will be directed by Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon. Dohrn was a screenwriter for Shrek 2 and an artist for Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever After. He also voiced Rumpelstiltskin. Vernon directed Shrek 2 and voiced the Gingerbread Man.
