Pamplona is the capital of the Navarra Autonomous Region and one of the most interesting cities in Spain. It is known all over the world for the San Fermin festival, during which the famous bull run takes place. Every year, thousands of tourists come here to experience a real explosion of emotions when angry animals rush through the narrow streets of the old town.

However, Pamplona is not only a place for adrenaline seekers. Ancient architecture, medieval fortifications, cozy squares, and interesting cultural traditions attract travelers from all over the world. The Express publication told why you should visit Pamplona.

Every year in July, the Pamplona residents organize the Fiesta de San Fermín festival. The main element of the festival is the Encierro, or bull run, during which desperate people run several hundred meters through the narrow streets of the city, running away from angry animals.

This tradition, which has deep historical roots, makes the festival one of the most exciting in the world. For nine days, the city is filled with music, dancing, performances, and fireworks. The streets are crowded with people wearing traditional white clothes with red scarves, which create a special holiday atmosphere. If you are looking for a real explosion of emotions, then San Fermin is what you need.

However, it is worth noting that bull racing is very dangerous, and injuries, sometimes even fatalities, occur every year.

Pamplona is rich in historical and architectural attractions. Santa Maria la Real is a majestic Gothic cathedral, one of the most prominent religious buildings in Spain. Inside you can see a magnificent cloister, as well as archaeological excavations.

The Citadel of Pamplona is a well-preserved fortress of the Renaissance period in Europe. It was built in the 16th century and served as a defense structure.

Plaza del Castillo is the central square of the city, surrounded by historic buildings and restaurants. Here you can enjoy the atmosphere of Pamplona and taste local specialties.

The Navarre Museum is an ideal place for history and art lovers, where exhibits telling about the rich heritage of the region are collected.

Pamplona is located in a picturesque area, which makes it a great place for outdoor activities. The Pyrenees are not far away, so you can go hiking, mountain biking, or just enjoy nature. In addition, the city is an important point on the Camino de Santiago, one of the most famous pilgrimage routes in the world.
