You will have to address major faults: experts name three used cars to avoid

Choosing a used car is always a compromise between price and quality. Car experts advise to be especially careful when considering some models that, despite their attractive price, can bring a lot of trouble and additional costs.

Australian car experts Adam Morris and Jim Hull, hosts of the ReDriven YouTube channel, shared their recommendations on three models that should be avoided.

Peugeot 206 GTI 180

Adam Morris, taking into account his own experience with this model, does not recommend it for purchase at all. He notes that, unlike the standard version of the Peugeot 206, the GTI 180 has a number of serious drawbacks. These include uncomfortable seating, poor gearshifting, ergonomics problems, and excessive oversteer.

The expert emphasizes that this model does not meet the expectations of a "hot" hatchback, losing out to competitors such as Renault Sport Clio 172 and Ford Fiesta ST. Owners also noted the discrepancy between the large alloy wheels and the miniature design of the 206, the harsh suspension and the heavy steering wheel.

Mini Cooper R51 (2001-2006)

Jim Hull advises against buying this model, citing frequent engine breakdowns. He notes that the bottom ends of these cars often fall apart, the ride is uncomfortable, and the general condition leaves much to be desired.

The expert shares his negative experience of driving a John Cooper Works convertible of this model, describing it as "the worst thing" and constant noise when driving on uneven roads.

Mazda 3 MPS (2009-2013)

Although experts recognize that the Mazda 3 MPS is a potentially impressive and reliable model, it is extremely difficult to find a good condition example on the used car market. Most of the available options, according to Adam Morris, have been "absolutely ruined."

The expert warns against buying this model without a thorough check, as there is a high risk of buying a car with hidden defects that were disguised during preparation for sale. He personally rejected several potential purchases after a detailed diagnosis.

It is worth noting that experts do not deny the positive qualities of the standard versions of Peugeot 206 and Mazda 3. However, it is the sporty GTI 180 and MPS modifications, as well as the Mini Cooper R51, that they believe are less reliable and can lead to significant repair costs.

When choosing a used car, it is important to consider not only the price, but also the potential costs of maintenance and repair, as well as carefully check the technical condition of the car before buying.
