You do not need bleach: how to make white bed linen look like new
White bedding is a spectacular accent in the bedroom interior and a whole lot of trouble when it comes to washing. Due to hard water and insufficient rinsing, it can fade and stains can remain even after several cycles.
Many people solve this problem by using bleach, but this class of products quickly damages the fabric, makes the fibers less durable, and accelerates the wear of the bed. Moreover, the regular use of chlorine-containing products can cause yellowing of the fabric itself. However, as OBOZ.UA found out, there is a way to solve both of these problems at the same time, and it is the use of white vinegar in the wash.
Vinegar has natural whitening properties and works great as a fabric softener. All you need to do is add a cup of the product to the drum of your washing machine during the next wash. Everything else - the dosage of soap, water temperature, program - is set according to the type of fiber and the degree of soiling.
If you are using a tumble dryer, simply place the bedding in the tumble dryer after the wash cycle is complete and select a low temperature and a program for delicate fabrics. This will leave your sheets not only snow-white and fresh, but also soft.
However, if you still notice that your sheets look a little dull after washing and drying, it could be due to lint on the surface of the fabric. They form when the loose ends of the fibers become tangled or clumped together. They can trap dirt, dust, and other particles, making the bed look duller and less fresh over time. Therefore, before washing, be sure to carefully remove the lint with a fabric razor or lint roller.
