The frontman of the American band Metallica, 60-year-old James Hetfield, seems to be seriously pursuing his film career. This fall, a movie will be released in which he will play a full-fledged supporting role for the first time.

The American streaming service Tubi Films has published a trailer for the western thriller "The Thicket" on its YouTube channel, in which Hatfield stars alongside "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage and actress Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers). The film is due for release on September 6.

The movie is set in the early twentieth century. The main character Jack goes in search of his kidnapped sister. The girl finds herself in the hands of a bloody gang led by the ruthless Cutthroat Bill. To save his sister, Jack enlists the support of a cunning bounty hunter named Reginald Jones. Together, they track the gang to a neutral zone known as the Thicket, a place of blood and chaos.

The film is based on the book of the same name by Jo. R. Lansdale's book of the same name. The project is directed by director and music video maker Elliott Lester, and the screenplay was written by Chris Kelly, known for his work on such TV series as Preacher and Banshee.

The role of Jack in the film is played by 22-year-old Levon Hawke, the son of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. His direct on-screen partner is the charismatic Peter Dinklage, who also produced the film. Juliette Lewis played the role of Bill the Head Girl.

As for James Garfield, he will embody the image of the sheriff of the town where the events of the movie take place. This will be his second film role. Throughout his career, he has appeared in documentaries and several feature films, but always as himself. Hatfield first tried his hand at acting in the 2019 Netflix movie "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly." In it, he played a cameo role as a police officer who detained serial killer Ted Bundy. Even though the movie received less than favorable reviews, the legendary rocker's appearance on the screen was more often praised than criticized.
