On the morning of November 7, a powerful explosion occurred on the outskirts of Taganrog in the Rostov region (Russia). Eyewitnesses say that the powerful blast wave "shook houses, windows, and the ground."

The explosion occurred near the airport, followed by smoke rising into the sky, according to local public media. And the advisor to the mayor of the temporarily occupied Mariupol, Petro Andriushchenko, said he had information that enemy helicopters were burning at the arrival site.

The explosion, according to local groups, occurred around 9 a.m.

"About an hour ago, a powerful explosion occurred in the vicinity of Taganrog. Houses, windows, the ground shook somewhere... It all happened near the airport. It is possible that the plane landed so loudly, but it is not certain, because they do not land so loudly and with smoke. Many people think it was an IED, so this version is also possible. We can only wonder what happened," writes one of Taganrog's publics.

The channel also published a photo with smoke in the area of the airport. However, some commentators insist that it is old.

Local residents also reported alleged air defense operations.

However, the governor of Rostov region, Vasylii Holubiev, denies the air defense operation.

"I am answering a number of questions that came here to the channel about the loud sounds that residents of Taganrog and Azov heard around 10:00 (9:00 Kyiv time - Ed.) today. The air defense systems were not working. But please keep in mind that the Russian Armed Forces are constantly performing tasks to fire on Ukrainian units in accordance with the plan for the Joint Forces Operation. I have repeatedly said: the military is fulfilling its tasks. And we can help them - without panicking and trusting only reliable sources of information," Golubev "reassured" Taganrog residents 2.5 hours after the explosion that frightened them.

At the same time, according to Andriushchenko, the explosion did indeed occur at the airfield: it has been used by the Russians to base their helicopters recently.

"Taganrog reports that helicopters are burning at the airfield after the explosion. The Russians are indeed systematically using Taganrog airfield for basing, in particular, helicopter units, but not only. Air defense systems, equipment to be deployed to Ukraine - all this is systematically stored there. We are waiting for official confirmation," he wrote.

"On the right is an Il-76. To the left, the parking lot of helicopters and Su-25 are on fire," reads one of the comments, the author of which also reports that "helicopters are also hit," and fire trucks have arrived at the scene.

A few days ago, the Kursk region complained about a drone attack on the Khalino airfield. The Russian Defense Ministry said that it had successfully repelled the attack.

It was also reported that on the same day, November 4, a powerful explosion occurred in Rostov-on-Don.
