Will constantly require money: which car brands better not to buy
A new car is not a cheap purchase. However, the costs do not end there, but only begin. Car maintenance and repair will definitely become a significant line item in your family budget.
And some car brands will cost you a lot. According to Finance Buzz, Consumer Reports recently conducted a survey to evaluate the effectiveness of repair and maintenance of hundreds of thousands of cars on a scale from zero to 100, where 100 is given to the most reliable brand. And here are the car brands that showed the weakest results.
Ford
Reliability score: 44
In addition to the beloved Mustang, Ford is moving away from passanger cars and focusing on SUVs and pickups. However, the survey shows that their reliability is below average.
Genesis
Reliability score: 40
According to Consumer Reports, Genesis, Hyundai's luxury brand, has not fared well in terms of reliability. In addition, drivers complain about overly complicated controls in the brand's new vehicles.
Volvo
Reliability assessment: 38
The Swedish brand Volvo is well known for its safety features. However, its gasoline-powered models are a bit outdated. Drivers are not very pleased with their reliability.
Chevrolet
The reliability rating: 37
Chevrolet offers everything from SUVs and trucks to its famous Corvette. The brand also sells hybrid models. However, it, unfortunately, does not receive high marks in terms of reliability.
Tesla
Reliability score: 36
Tesla electric cars offer impressive range, performance, and access to the Supercharger network, making them a dream for many drivers. Unfortunately, touchscreens for key controls, questionable build quality, and average reliability can be drawbacks, especially for budget-conscious buyers considering a used Tesla.
Volkswagen
Reliability rating: 34
Consumer Reports cites the controls that Volkswagen installs on its vehicles as a potential problem. Once considered the best on the market, they have now become a problem.
Jeep
Reliability assessment: 33
Thanks to its rugged construction, the Jeep brand has gained deep consumer loyalty. The brand's lineup includes the iconic Jeep Wrangler and SUVs such as the Cherokee and Wagoneer. However, problems with fuel-efficiency and reliability have lowered the brand's rating.
GMC
Reliability score: 33
The brand has been unfortunately described by Consumer Reports as "rebadged, slightly more upscale twins to Chevrolet’s SUVs and trucks." Unfortunately, the brand's models have many of the same reliability issues as Chevrolet.
Cadillac
Reliability score: 27
Cadillac is a luxury brand that is now entering the EV market with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq. However, it doesn't get the highest scores for reliability.
Rivian
Reliability score: 14
Known for its electric trucks and SUVs, the Rivian offers practical range, impressive speed, and unique features such as a spacious front trunk and Gear Tunnel on some models. However, its heavy reliance on on-screen controls and poor reliability ratings may disappoint budget-conscious owners despite the high satisfaction of current drivers.
