Why you can't eat cheese on board an airplane: many people had no idea

Airplane food always leaves a lot to be desired, unless you're traveling in business class. According to the crew, some of the snacks on board that are included in the ticket price are not safe to eat at all. We are talking about cheese, which is often given with a drink, crackers, or a bun.

Food on the plane is not always fresh, so you should not eat cheese. This was stated in a commentary to The Sun by flight attendant Jasmine King, who has been working for the airline since 2015.

"Stay away from cheese sandwiches because they are not very fresh. These are mostly shelf-stable foods," the flight attendant explained in the message.

Food that can be stored at room temperature for a long time cannot be considered high-quality and fresh. Flight attendant King also advises avoiding other salty snacks, such as nuts and pretzels. They further dehydrate the body during the flight.

Don't eat heavy foods on the plane

Food is not prepared on the plane, but is brought in containers from restaurants. Pasta is one of the dishes that can not only be tasteless when reheated, but also spoiled. Fritz Gross, director of culinary excellence at LSG Sky Chefs Asia Pacific, told CNN that taste is not a priority for people preparing food for the plane. Hygiene and passenger safety are much more important. The chef advises other airlines not to cook pasta, as this dish can spoil very quickly and cause poisoning.

In most airports, fast food outlets are available in the Duty Free area, making it easy to get a hamburger or donuts. Fatty foods put a strain on the digestive system, causing abdominal pain, and can also make you feel sick due to nausea. Nutritionist Serena Poon told Insider: "These types of foods can slow down digestion and make you feel drowsy."

Cruciferous vegetables include bok choy, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage. These vegetables are considered a superfood because they are packed with carbohydrates and vitamins, making them great for dieting and nutrition. However, on an airplane, such food can cause bloating and intestinal discomfort.

Caffeinated drinks are also not recommended before and during the flight. Consuming large amounts of coffee can cause frequent urination and dehydration. An alternative drink is herbal tea with mint and ginger. These products help facilitate digestion and good sleep.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL talked about the most budget-friendly travel destinations in 2023, where a week-long vacation for two abroad can cost $400.
