The 83-year-old ex-footballer gave radical advice

Former CSKA Moscow and USSR national team player Vladimir Ponomarev is convinced that Russian clubs can do without legionnaires. The 83-year-old veteran sees no point in foreign players for Russia in the current realities.

"We are not allowed to go to Europe or any other competitions - why the hell do we need foreign players in our championship?" Gazeta.ru quoted Ponomarev as saying.

The former player is convinced that without participation in European competitions, clubs do not need representatives of other countries.

"We took them, Zenit and CSKA were bought specifically to play in European competitions, right? And now why the hell do we need them? I think that under the conditions we have now, we could easily terminate their contracts," Ponomarev added.

In response, Russian fans advised the 83-year-old expert to take pills.
