Which European cities are most crowded with tourists: four of them in one country
Europe is experiencing a real tourist boom, some countries are even forced to impose restrictions so that tourists do not disturb the locals. But, as research shows, the problem is more serious in some popular cities than anywhere else.
According to the Express, the company Dubai Tours and Tickets has analyzed search queries for tickets to popular vacation destinations and named the destinations for which most tickets are bought. The study, conducted by the online guide, analyzed Google search data for 140 cities over the past year. Of the ten busiest cities, four were in the same country - Italy.
The first line was taken by the Italian capital, Rome. Also in the list were Milan, Venice and Florence. They account for at least 80 thousand search queries.
Interestingly, the British are mainly interested in vacation in Europe. The top ten included exclusively European cities. Lisbon, Berlin, Paris, Rhodes, Athens, Athens and Nice were also incredibly popular.
The highest ranked non-European destination was the American Orlando, which was the 15th most popular among Brits this year. The pearl of the United Arab Emirates, the city of Dubai did not even make it into the top thirty, coming 31st.
Remarkably, the UK is also popular with Italians. As many as 97% of Italian tourists in the Visit Britain survey admitted that they would "probably" or "extremely likely" recommend to someone they know to visit the UK.
Rome's popularity in 2023 was due to the fact that the Italian capital was planning for the current season to make extensive preparations for the Roman Catholic Holy Year in 2025. Accordingly, many landmarks have been hidden under scaffolding for restoration. It is expected that 32 million tourists will visit Rome and the Vatican next year, so the city is being carefully prepared for this.
